Why « Zero-Waste » in Agroecology?
Faced with the rising cost of synthetic inputs, soil degradation, and climate change challenges, the project partners (CPF, the WYNA consortium, and GIZ/KCOA) are committed to strengthening the capacities of women and youth agro-entrepreneurs across Africa.
The zero-waste approach promotes circular economy principles and full resource recovery on the farm: every crop residue or livestock waste becomes a key resource to restore soil fertility, lower production costs, and ensure farm self-sufficiency.
3 Key Session Topics:
1. Agroecology and Principles of Sustainable Agriculture:
Theoretical and practical foundations for designing autonomous, climate-resilient farming systems.
2. Integrated Crop–Livestock Systems for a Zero-Waste Farm:
Practical synergies between crop and livestock production to close nutrient loops and eliminate waste.
3. Composting and Organic Waste Management for Soil Fertility:
Practical techniques and field demonstrations on converting organic waste into high-value soil amendments.
Speakers & Hosts (ARMTI, Nigeria):
• Dr. Popoola Oluwatoki Peter: Main Host & Agricultural Management Expert
• Dr. David Emmanuel: Integrated Crop–Livestock Systems Specialist
